Internship Programs
Mayor's Intern Fellows Program:This is a unique summer internship created by the Mayor. The 8-week paid internships are for Dallas ISD high school students becoming juniors or seniors. It places talented students from challenged school in corporate offices at the top firms in Dallas. There they make the connection between their education and their careers and gain valuable job and life experiences. Participants must be involved in the Education is Freedom program at their schools and meet strict attendance and grade standards. The program is administered by the non-profit organization Education is Freedom (EIF). Mayor's Office Internships:The Mayor's Office also has non-paid internships for college students interested in learning more about government and politics. Applicants must be motivated, mature students with good judgment, strong writing and speaking skills, spirit, imagination, energy and a commitment to excellence.
Goal
- To provide an individual with a monitored and supervised work experience where the individual has learning goals and gains practical work experience to complement their academic studies.
- The internship will help build the foundation for careers as elected officials, political science researchers, public administrators, journalists and other related fields.
- Students will report weekly on their learning process and goals.
- This is a relatively new, highly competitive program that receives dozens of applicants for a limited number of internships.
