Complete Streets Initiative

Complete StreetsThe City of Dallas kicked-off the Complete Streets Initiative on
June 26, 2011.

The Complete Streets Initiative is intended as a corridor preservation and enhancement activity aimed at phased transformation of Dallas’ existing Thoroughfare Plan network and overall street system to accommodate growing multi-modal transportation needs as the city redevelops and continues to invest in a range of transit improvements, bikeway facilities and mixed-use/transit-oriented development projects.

The primary goal is to develop and implement a consistent set of design policies, guidelines, processes and standards for the citywide street network to provide for a range of transportation choices (walking, cycling, transit and automobiles) and users (including elderly, children, & disabled), complimented by land development patterns in a manner that promotes increased mobility choice and user safety.
